7/3/12/2 Decrees of the Eleventh Provincial Chapter. Sess. IV It is decreed by the Venerable Chapter that the Regulations made by a Previous Provincial Chapter in execution of an order of the General Chapter (1878) and since then approved of by the General and his Consultors be printed and faithfully observed by all our Missionary Fathers. The Venerable Chapter considering that on the proper training of the students depends the good of the Congregation recommends the Directors of the students to have great solicitude for them that they be imbued with the spirit of the Congregation. It recommends moreover that the same Directors have vigilant care that the students have their spiritual conferences as ordered by our Regulations.... Let them be present as far as possible at all their reg recreations and carefully watch over the regular observance. Moreover let the students confess to him alone and to nobody else without the permission of the Provincial or in particular cases of the Rector and this permission never to be granted for ordinary direction. The Ven. Chapter thinks thoughs it necessary to recommend that the term of the students studies appointed by the Regulations be never shortened and that the student-Priests be never employed on missions or any parachial acties until they have completed their full course of studies which should extend over five years. It also recommends that the one year preserved by the Holy Rule (Ch. xxii) for students who have already finished their full course of Theology be employed in the study of Scripture and of the Latters under a good master, be in future faithfully observed. Sess. V The Ven. Chapter decrees that our Latters hereforth cease to have anything to do to with the sale of Scapulars or other articles of devotion and also Books (the companion of the Mission excepted) on Missions and Retrials.
