Reverend Father Prior, I wish to write to you, as I heard, a short time ago, that St.Joseph's Priory has been founded by Dom Marmion who is venerated immensely in our Congregation. I have been told about Glenstal by Rev.Father Ambrose Collette, from Mont-Cesar, and by Mother M.Benedicte Joassart, from St. Cecilia's Abbey, Ryde, who knew formerly Dom Bede Lebbe. These two informations seem to em an act of Providence, as we were praying, by Dom Columba's Intercession, to obtain, if it is God's will, a foundation in Ireland. So, with the recommendation of Father Ambrose and Madame l'Abbesse, who have both been kind to introduce my request, I dare, Reverend Father Prior, ask you a very great service: it is if you could perhaps, by the relations you have with thw Irish clergy, obtain for us, a Bishop's consent to settle in his diocese. That is all that we need. Of course, we know quite well that such a lot of congregations have asked to come to Ireland during these last years, that the hierarchy had to restrain this invasion. But we just want to have a small community of six or eight sisters; we only wish to nurse and take care of poor people, and I don't think it will never be excess of help for these ones. A few lines I noted on pages 12 to 18 will inform you about it much better than I could do so. I ask you pardon, Reverend Father Prior, to disturb you with this sollicitation, but I have such a great confidence in our dear Dom Marmion that I am sure his sons will do something, if they could, to help the Servants of the Poor. A last request is that, preferable, we wish to settle in Dublin, as one of our Sisters' family resides there, it would help us so much. But the first step on our way to Ireland is the permission of his Lordship the Bishop, and by ourselves we shall never be able to do it.
