Sir, 2023 06-15 / 687 With reference to your letter of 11th July, 1949, I am commanded by the Army Council to furnish, from the records of the Department, the following particulars of the military service of Ivor Harte BARRY. Appointed to an emergency commission as 2nd Lieutenant, Royal Army Service Corps.....22. 6.40 Promoted War Substantive Lieutenant .....22.12.41 Appointed Acting Major .....6. 4.42 Promoted War Substantive Captain and appointed Temporary Major .....6. 7.42 Relinquished temporary rank of Major .....3. 8.45 Dismissed the service by sentence of a General Court Martial.....6.10.48 (London Gazette (Supplement) dated 7.12.48) Served overseas. This officer was found guilty by a General Court-Martial on three charges of drunkenness, under Section 19 of the Army Act, and one charge of conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline, under Section 40 of the Army Act, and was sentenced to be dismissed the service.
