CONFIDENTIAL Very Rev. and dear Father Prior, Your letter of 24th. 8.49 and enclosure were held up pending my return from sick leave. Whilst I am sure you are satisfied with the dispositions of the person in question, you will, I hope, appreciate that, with his official "record of service" as my only evidence of his conduct in the Army, I cannot possibly, with that evidence before me, solemnly testify that he is "idoneus" for the priesthood or religious life. In view of the provisions of Canon 545, para. 2 I have felt bound to refer that aspect of the case to the Apostolic Delegate here who is my nexus with the Apostolic See. All kind wishes.
