Continuing our topic of phone interest, I have direct word, to-day, from Father Thomas McInerney, from Le Saulchoir, that his exam. will take place on Saturday next, and that.....' the exam. once over, I shall leave immediately for Dublin.....I shall be in Dublin, on MondayMonday 2nd., at latest.....I shall call to St. Saviour's to see you, the moment I arrive in Dublin, if I may...if only to show the condition of the corpse after the beating.....' Between the lines, he is saying virtually, that he will go to Glenstal as soon as he gets to Dublin, next week. For all this procrastination, that inevitably disturbs your studium horary, and drastically, I am very sorry. Were I conscious that the programme Father Thomas outlined for me, last August, would prevent him eventually from keeping to the terms of his contract with you, I should have put the case clearly, and with reservations. Unfortunately, I haven't a substitute professor to offer you. Maynooth College, again, (after a lapse of several years), has claimed a Dominican professor, for three years as from September ult., to teach Moral theology, and I have sent Father O'Doherty from his Logic classes in St. Mary's, Cork, to Maynooth, while Fr. Fergal O'Connor, back, recently, from Economics Degree in Oxford (and a specialist in Logic, too) takes Father O'Doherty's place in Cork. So I trust that, consummatus in brevi, the cursus in Glenstal may be integral and satisfactory, in the long run. May I offer apologies for my rather incoherent reactions to the point you raised, over the phone, about the Cork Examiner Reviews, O.S.B.....I did not remark on it to you, but I could scarcely hear what Your Lordship said over the phone.....your voice was faintly audible. However, I caught the gist of the conversation de ista re Corneliana. Vermeersch holds that either Cashel or Cork imprimatur suffices; most other commentators restrict this imprimatur, for, exempt, religious to the Ordinary of the place where the religious house of the cottributor is situated.
