OFFICIAL SCHEDULE FOR FORTY HOURS ADORATION FOR THE DIOCESE OF BAKER CITY TO THE REVEREND PASTORS AND CHAPLAINS: The designated time for holding the Forty Hours' Devotion may not be changed without our permission. The "Manual of Forty Hours' Adoration" published by the American Ecclesiastical Revew is recommended as suitable for conducting this devotion in the manner prescribed by the Church. Whenever a sermon is given in the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, a white silk veil must be placed before the Blessed Sacrament. Pastors are requested to explain to the faithful on the Sunday previous to the opening of the Forty Hours' the purpose of this devotion, how they are to assist at it, the necessary conditions for gaining the Indulgences, etc., and to exhort them to take advantage of the great spiritual opportunity afforded them. Permission for the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is not given in any case unless provision is made that adorers be constitutiously present. There should be no time when there are not at least two adorers present. It is expected that members of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament will take the foremost part in offering themselves for periods of adoration.
