Rev. Kealy Is Named Sacred Heart Pastor Vets Hospital Chaplain Here To Succeed The Capuchin Fathers Rev. Thomas M. Kealy, associate editor of the Southeastern Edition of The Register, Catholic paper, and chaplain at the Veterans' hospital, will become pastor of Sacred Heart church when the Capuchin fathers withdraw in the near future, Bishop Louis B. Kucera said Saturday. Rev. Kealy, formerly of Hastings, has served as assistant at St. Mary's cathedral and as pastor at Ashland and Elmwood. The bishop's statement was as follows: "The Very Rev. Stephen Murtagh, O. M. Cap., American representative of the Irish Capuchins, with headquarters in Dublin, was in Lincoln last week to make a personal survey of the Sacred Heart Parish which has been administered by Capuchin fathers since 1919. "Owing to the shortage of priests to man adequately all missions in charge of the Irish Capuchins in the United States, Father Murtagh announced it was decided at a meeting of the general church in Dublin several weeks ago to relinquish the administration of the Lincoln parish. "The local Sacred Heart church is the only one in the Capuchin midwestern states served by the Capuchin fathers. They have a novilate in Delaware and a number of missions on the west coast. The parish in Lincoln was considered too isolated to be served conveniently by the Capuchin order."
