Louth Landowners MeetingDundalk, 5 Sept. 1887. 1st RESOLUTION. That whereas recent legislation has injuriously interfered with the Landlord's interest in his property, we call upon Parliament to bring this question of Land Legislation in Ireland to a speedy and final settlement upon terms just to all parties concerned, taking into consideration the fair claims of the Landlords for compensation for the loss of the absolute ownership of the land, and other injuries inflicted by the said legislation. 2nd RESOLUTION. That whereas we find, that in consequence of the legislation referred to, the Tenant's interest now sells at very many years' purchase while the Landlord's interest is practically unsaleable, we call upon Parliament to advance money to the Landlords on as easy terms as to the Tenants, for the purpose of paying off mortgages, family charges, etc., etc. 3rd RESOLUTION. That we call upon Parliament to reduce proportionally to the compulsory reduction of rents, all public rentcharges such as Quit and Crown Rents, and Tithe Rentcharge payable to the Land Commission, together with all outstanding balance of unpaid Public Loans, and that in the event of a sale the above-named Government Charges be redeemed at the same number of years' purchase as may be obtained by the vendor for his estates; and we request that Parliament shall give serious consideration to the position in which Middlemen are placed by rent legislation.
