He seems convinced that she wd. draw more out of him than the direct appeal of Christ — and he certainly can encounter the goodness and truth and simplicity of God in human beings. Could he get sufficient scope to develop that penchant in the monastic state and in Glensted in particular? I doubt it and I doubt whether it would be good for him. It does seem to be a counter-indication to monastic vacation. It seems to me that his super-natural spirit is not sensitive enough. This again implies that his faith is not sufficiently "doubbilis". What I mean is that he is inclined to pour the word of God into a two human mould
