The explanation given is that about 100 or 150 years ago a friar was accustomed to visit the family and inhabited that room. The steward presumed that when he came, he said Mass in the building'.

Ard Almure - Donegal FRANCISCAN CAPUCHIN FRIARY, CHURCH STREET, DUBLIN. Within the ground, inside the wall of the Almesne is a spot called Alledal Hill - in commemoration of a visit made by Mr. Merobald of athletes to the district. Iraddin says that he held the meeting at that spot and administered the pledge to the assembled thousands. The Almesne wall was built subsequent to My athletes' visit. (I consider therefore hist visit was anterior to 1847) In Ard House one of the apartments is called the Friar's Room - ones. The morning after the building was taken over from the Laud Commission - stopped there was alcoholics in the fortion of the building assigned an oratory. In the course of the day one of the fathers remarked the Steward "I should not be the first time Man was said here". The Steward was drellful & mentioned a travitin prevalent on the place. One of the apartments is called "The Friar's Room". The Alledal pives is thus about 10 or 15 years ago a friar was accustomed to visit the family, & inhabited that room. The Steward presumes that when he came he said Man in the building. In all duble fathleman Mr Pat. McGrath - Corkseller - whom I mentioned this incident, saw me same references to a Franciscan who lived at the time of the 5th April of 1847 cent. He met the Friar visitor & we have been more one a member of the family - Hewart - whom the propely believed.
