New Bell Installed And Blessed At St. Patrick's, Umatilla Hermiston, Ore.—On Monday July 2, the new bell for St. Patrick's church at Umatilla was solemnly blessed on the church grounds. The Officiant was Rev. J. D. Lee, the Diocesan Administrator. He was assisted by the pastor Father Dominic O'Connor, O.M.Cap., and Father J. J. Walsh, pastor of Freewater, and Father F. Carroll, O. M.Cap. The sweet toned bell is the gift of an anonymous donor. It is probably the first church bell solemnly blessed in eastern Oregon. In accordance with the ritual it was blessed to the honor of God under the invocation of Mary Immaculate, St. Joseph, St. John, St. Patrick and St. William. After the Mass which followed the blessing, the clergy and the congregation were entertained to an alfresco breakfast on the grounds of the Nugent home by the ladies of Saint Patrick's Altar society.
