L, Merick Dear Reverend Father, Catherine Mulholland late of Warrenpoint, County Down, Deceased. The Will of the above-named Deceased who died on the 11th March 1937 (inter alia) contained the following bequest:- ..." I will devise and bequeath all the property I may die seized possessed of or entitled to unto my executors and trustees bereinafter mentioned Upon Trust to transfer thereout the sum of One Hundred Founds invested in Free State Loan and 50 ordinary Shares in J & P. Coates L, mited to the Superior Mount Melleray Abbey Cappoquinn, County Waterford, which said investments are to be retained or in his discretion realized and re-invested and the dividends accruing there- from or from such varied investments to be expended for Masses to be said publically in Ireland at an honorarium of Two Shillings and Six pence each for a period of Fifty years from the date of my death for the repose of the Sould of Edward O'Hare, Catherine O'Hare, John O'Hare, Hugh Mulholland, Catherine Mulholland and Edward O'Hare, and < at the end of said period of fifty years the said investments to be realised and used in having Masses said for the same intentions for such period and at whatever honorarium the then Abbot of Mount Melleray should in his absolute discretion determine. " The Abbot of Mount Melleray has however declined to accept the bequest and you might please let me know if you would accept same. Yours faithfully Peter J. McMahon

Limerick 11 - 7- 1938 Dear Sir, In connection with your letter of the 5th inst.re Will of Catherine Mulholland, I am pleased to write you that my Counsel entrusted me to accept the aforesaid bequest of One Hundred Pounds for Masses to be said on the conditions stated in the aforesaid letter. I thank you so much for your kind attention in thinking of our Monastery to fulfil the intentions of the deceased, and I beg you to convey the expression of my gratitude to the Executors and Trustees Yours truly D.
