A Menaquem. Uphater 20th 1925 In favor dear Laura Down - I think you will be glad to hear, for my sake, that I have just sent the last page of my Meya Kakov to prof. As I determined to dedicate to you (and will stop them your smile enough be of the property of my determination) it was my intention not to dedicate to any one; and this would certainly have been, that is called, the best certain. But it has occurred to me that I might turn the tribute, such as it is, to account, by opening it to an other friend of mene, whose kindness to our eldest little girl (attorney print Coftoneed brandown, to Americans) was such as it would letter have such tributes to repay. The objections to dedicating this are, especially enough the very reasons of those that certainty in your case. Gray you being a too responsible person, and be a too obscure one - my fear eath you being that of wanting your name, and with him that of thowing too hundred light on it. As I have, however, it will give him pleasure. I have made up sent to do it, and as the dedication was really your prospect, thank it but honest to announce to you this alienation of it. I hope to see you about the beginning of next week, & to trust that the "glorious more" will not quite have you off before I arrive. Ever faithfully yours Thomas Down. 19 Berry St St. Lawrence,
