A Athair, Mr. Leon Ó Broin asked me to write to you on his behalf to see if you could be of assistance in the following matter. A friend of his, Brother Aldrick de Wincke, a Flemish monk in the Norbertine Abbey of Tongerlo near Antwerp is seeking some information about and photographs of Patrick Pearse and the Pearse family for a Mr. Stephen de Broey, a Belgian author who is writing a book on Patrick Pearse entitled "The Life of Patrick Pearse, Ideal Christian, Ideal Teacher, Ideal Patriot". It is the author's object apparently to present Pearse as the ideal model for the youth of Belgium "who", to quote Brother Aldrick, "is in want of lofty ideals in our times of neo-paganism". It may be of interest to you to know that this Brother Aldrick, who is 74 years of age, is a descendant of the Wild Geese and has written upwards of 21 pamphlets and articles on Ireland and the Irish in the Flemish tongue.
