My dear Father Provincial: The Flintridge property is part of that which formerly constituted The Flintridge Golf Club. We bought ten acres of ground including building site and a slope extending down to the main golf links area. Of this property there is an estimated five acres that is used as a playing field. The California Highways Commission exercising the right of eminent domain will condemn and take an acre of this same right, has taken ten acres adjoining us. They will now take twenty three more. We are going to need more land. They will consider selling us two acres at approximately $7000 an acre. The California Highways will pay approximately $7000 for the acre they take from us at such time as they get around to using the ground. The "deal" for the twenty three acres is now being consummated. I am requesting permission from (through) the Definition to borrow $14000 or as much as I need to purchase the two acres.
