I sent the letter for the American bonsul to H. Rupert. - Sept. 3rd 1951. Saint Francis of Assisi 1541 GOLDEN GATE AVENUE LOS ANGELES 26, CALIF. PHONE OLYMPIA 1305 8-24-51 My dear Mr. Calman: Please enclose my delay in answering your letter of Aug. 10th. I have been up in Oregon for the first time at the McKenzie Bridge of Dr. Bete Reynolds O.S.B. who gave me the property after his wife died. - while I was there I made the visitation of the house, also Bend & Roseling. I could not do Hermitos on the houses in Northern California. as I had to get back here quickly. I have two masses each morning and Dr. Emanuel is all I have to help. When we are building a new school & a formerly new & have to be around as much as possible. Dr. Fritos is back from the hospital. However he has Saint Francis of Assisi 1541 GOLDEN GATE AVENUE LOS ANGELES 26, CALIF. PHONE OLYMPIA 1305 To be very greet, & con 80 no more manual work. It is too bad. It is did a freak job at the "Bridge", & enclosed himself to everyone - Catholic & non-Catholic. Dr. Heder got some "knock out" shots & I think he is some what-better. as fr. Cornelius loted you there seems to be no hope for Dr. Nivian. But stronger to say Dr. Hernand who is completely paralyzed is as perfectly as ever, & afcourse has no thought of dying. I would have liked to lived at McKenzie Bridge now. But since you & the Definition have record attendance. there is nothing to do about it. - The place is marvellously beautiful. and I have no doubt that it would prove a blessing in every way to have a moradeny there. I enclose the guarantee for Dr. Rupert. I had letters from Dr. General Catherine with every work, I remain fraternity & obediency with Francis R. McPherson
