Saint Francis of Assisi 1541 GOLDEN GATE AVENUE LOS ANGELES 26, CALIF. PHONE OLYMPIA 1305 April 7, 1950 My dear Fr. Provincial: I am writing you this note on Good Friday immediately after the Three Hours which I have just preached. I hope I am on time for your meeting with the Definitory. You would have had it already were it not that I had to go to Oregon for the funeral of the Co-adjutor Bishop of Baker, - Bishop Fahey. It was a great surprise to me though he had been unwell. Now I want to thank you for all the men. But if you could possibly send some more please do so. Fr. General was disappointed at our not having more men in Wilmington. And yesterday I received a letter from the Guardian saying that for lack of men they are in dire financial straits. He has asked me for help. But I have no money. If we had a couple more men there - I think it would be alright. Fr. Benignus is unconscious for sometime. There seems to be no hope for his recovery. Please excuse this hurried note.
