October 22nd 19 24 My Dear Fr. Provincial/ I hope you reached the old land in safety, and that you are feeling in good form after your time with us out here in the States. Fr. Gabriel arrived here last Friday. He wrote to me to give him a few days with some friends in Boston. He is very well after his trip. I got back from Pasadena last Monday, where I was preaching a Weeks Renewal Mission, chiefly for the benefit of the newly established Third Order, which is in a flourishing condition there. I had a great ceremony of the profession of an old member, clothed in Habit, which made a wonderful impression, to the great delight of the old Monsignor. The chief reason being that plenty of Dollars were turned in. I received a large numbers of new members. We are all here since I returned, and I have got no Missions for this year only two weeks in St Teresa's San Francisco. Only two have asked for Lent so far. So that if you were considering the sending out of Lawrence or any other Father, I don't think they would get any work, unless the Bishop would undertake to send me or you a List of Missions, similar to those undertaken in San Francisco. The English Fathers, Nicholas and Co. have asked for some out here, which of course I turned down at once. I enclose his begging appeal. Things are going on here much as you saw them. The School is in full swing, and the Sisters are doing very well. We have 210 Children in School. I hope all the Paternity and Fraternity are well at home. With very best wishes, I am my dear Fr.
