J. M. J. F. Franciscan Capuchin Friary Box 38 Matts, California 2/5/24. ===== My dear Fr.Pro. Enclosed please find check for $100. for Masses, at $1.00 per Mass. The big Two left us last week to resume work in San. Francisco. They had a good holiday of nearly six weeks here, so they are well tuned up for the season's work. Fr. Brendan has work for Fr. Fintan in Abbottstown, so I am bringing Fr. Pacificus on here. He will be able to help out at the Masses, as we have three Masses on Sundays now. They are all very well attended, and in the near future we shall have to put on four. We are all booked up for Lent, and had to refuse many. I am starting a Sisters House, having already built a Choir for them. I have decided on retaining our own House, and putting the Sisters quarters at the south side of Church. I think the Sisters quarters will not exceed $1200 or $1300. They are working at the interior of the School at present, and by March I expect it will be complete. Of course the furnishing of same will run up to five or six thousand. So far that promised bequest has not been actualized. However I have hones still. I await your reply to my queries in my last letter. Hoping you are very well, and all the home Communities. All three here and those elsewhere are well. Fr. Dominic does not seem to be well at present. He says he is threatened with an appendix trouble. I have told him he can have a holiday within my jurisdiction by letting me know where, as this is his jubilee year. I will send you the paper report of the Visit of the Apostolic Delegate to Los Angeles on last Sunday, when we had a big ceremony in the Cathedral. A large number of Bishops were present. The Religious in the States have asked me to put before you and the Definitory, the matter of their election of one or more to represent them at the next Provincial Chapter.
