Franciscan Capuchin Friary Hotg-Redeenter Church Compton Ave. and Palm Drive P. O. Box 38 Matts, California II/22/23. My dear Fr. Pro/ Enclosed please find check for $200, for Masses at $1 per Mass. I received your kind letters re the Dispensations for Lents, and the visit of Bishop Cantwell to you, as well as the coming of the Fathers to Abbottstown. I am sure they will not be a burden or trouble to our Fathers there. Fr. Brendan is here at present for a short time. He goes with me to Sacramento next Sunday for a two weeks Mission. We are pretty busy at present with the Missions and Retreats for Sisters. The School is going ahead rapidly. I was very sorry to hear of the sudden death of poor Fr. Nicholas R.I.P. That Bro I got left today, he was of a wandering and nervous character, so We are getting a Housekeeper again. We are all very well here, I hope you continue strong yourself. With very best wishes for the Xmas & NewYear. Respectfully Yours in Xt & S.F. Joseph D. Egs.
