ARCHBISHOP'S HOUSE, WESTMINSTER, S.W. May 3rd, 1915. Dear Father Provincial, There is now a very urgent need for another large increase in the number of Priests to do duty as Chaplains in the Army or Navy. Would you very kindly let me know if you have any Fathers available whom you can specially recommend as in every way suitable for these duties. I should be grateful if you would be good enough to state in each case if the Father prefers one of the Services to the other, so that I may be able, if possible, to satisfy this preference. Any Priest accepted for duty of this kind must be at the disposition of H. M.'s Government until the end of the War.
