My dear Father Thomas: I am very pleased to be able to give the Capuchin Fathers the new parish of Our Lady of the Angels, at Easton. With the steady growth which we may expect in the Peninsula the new parish will be worthy of the Order. This will enable you to carry on the missionary work the Capuchin Fathers have done so well and so faithfully for many years in Mendocino County. It is hardly necessary for me to add how grateful I am that such a distinguished member of the Order, and one so acceptable to my priests, has been appointed as first Pastor of the new parish.
