THE MONITOR, SEPTEMBER 28, 1928 Archbishop Confirms Class at Our Lady Of Angels, Burlingame His Grace the Archbishop administered the sacrament of Confirmation in the church of Our Lady of Angels, Cortez avenue, Burlingame, on last Sunday. It was the first confirmation in the new parish and the importance of the occasion was fully realized by the parishioners. The street from the parochial residence to the church was lined by the members of the Cappuccino Society forming a guard of honor for the Archbishop, who was accompanied by his secretary and the Rev. Thomas Dowling, O.M.Cap., pastor. In his address to the children and the people, the Archbishop told of his personal happiness on the occasion. He spoke of his hopes when he entrusted his new parish to the Irish Capuchin Fathers, and expressed his appreciation of all that had been accomplished in the space of two years. His greatest joy was in the establishment of their Catholic school, the high standard of the training therein given was evidenced at the ceremony. He lauded the work of the Sisters of Mercy, who conducted the school, and predicted a wonderful future for the parish. If, said His Grace, so has been accomplished in two years, we may expect still more striking progress in the near future in surroundings where beauty of scenery and splendor of climate challenge any place in the world. He did not wonder that so many Catholic families are flocking to enjoy the natural and spiritual surroundings of this charming place.
