Publication note
The image was published in Fr. Thomas Dowling OSFC, 'The Great Temperance Apostle, Fr. Theobald Mathew' (Cork, 1902). It is noted in the text that on 'On March 28th, Daniel O’Connell, wearing his robe of office as Lord Mayor of Dublin, took part in a Temperance Procession in Cork. On separating from the Procession, he reverently knelt to receive Father Mathew’s blessing’.
