Stephen, I have received an agreement your letter of October 2nd 1954 and have consulted all the Definitors (which, as you understand, took some time) about your proposal to transfer the legal ownership of the church property at Roseburg to the Archbishop of Portland. We are in agreement agree to your doing so as you have assured us that in that case the Archbishop is willing to underwrite the loan that will be necessary to carry out the improvement programme. We are confident that you will ensure that the order as such will not suffer any financial loss by this transaction, and we do not see that it will affect the canonical foundation which we have in Roseburg. Internally yours. We have in our archives here all the documents relating to our canonical foundation in Roseburg and it would be well if you would kindly send us a copy of your new agreement with the Archbishop regarding the whole of this transaction, so that we may have it also an agreement as it will bring about some change in the former position.
