CATHOLICS HAVE LOVELY CHURCH Handsome Structure Is Formally Dedicated By Archbishop The formal dedication and blessing of St. Mary's Catholic church in this city took place Tuesday of last week. Rt. Rev. E. J. Hanna, Archbishop of San Francisco, coming to Ukiah to direct the ceremonies and at the same time to administer first communion to upwards of 250 boys and girls. Priests from all northern California came to attend the services. Excellent Choir Is Heard. A large choir of unusual ability provided the music for the High Mass at which Archbishop Hanna officiated. The services at the church were exceedingly impressive and were attended by a capacity congregation which taxed the church to its limit. Pleased Over Nice Spirit Shown. The Catholics expressed themselves as very gratified over the manner in which non-Catholics joined to make the affair the delightful success it proved to be. Parish Priest Praised. While, of course, the members of the congregation were, in the main, responsible for the erection of the handsome edifice, it is generally agreed the result would probably not have been accomplished were it not for the vigorous and intelligent manner in which the fund-raising and actual construction of the church were looked after by Father Raphael Quinn. Confirmed In Sisters' Chapel. The confirmation of a class of about 150 boys and girls took place at the chapel of the Sisters at the Albertinum and the later services took place in the new church. Parish Dinner Held. As soon as the church services had been concluded a parish dinner was served at The Palace Hotel which was enjoyed by 90.
