Dear Father Stephen, I am in receipt of your letter of July 18th. I am also grateful for the copy of the Modus Procedendi which I received safely some time ago. The letter In answer to your question as to whether of Father General to you dated March 20th, 1942, giving you extraordinary powers for the duration of the war, entitles you to correspond directly with Rome, I am of opinion that you can do so. You will be glad to hear that all in the home Province are well. Father Oliver was very ill some time ago, but as we have not got any word recently regarding him we presume that he is getting better. We are making arrangements for two Fathers, Fr. Ference, and Fr. Eustace who was recently ordained, and also a young Brother-Br. Fergus, - to go to the Foreign Mission in Africa. With all good wishes and trusting that you and the Fathers and Brothers in the Custody are all well, I remain, dear Fr. Stephen, Fraternally yours in St. Francis, Minister Provincial.
