Father Stephen O.M.Cap., Capuchin Franciscan Fathers, 1541 Golden Gate Avenue, Los Angeles, California. Dear Father Stephen: "At long last", I believe the King of England said after his abdication, we have the necessary documents to carry out the agreement into which the good Capuchin Fathers entered with us last Summer with reference to the Sacred Heart Church here in Lincoln. Not that we rejoice, are we glad to have the rescript which you so kindly forwarded to us, but rather because we felt keenly sorry for good Father O'Sullivan who had to remain throughout all this uncertainty. Again I express regret that Lincoln will be without the Capuchin Fathers. While I do so, may I reciprocate by telling you how grateful we are to your Community for all the sacrifices and helpfulness made and extended to the Diocese of Lincoln. We may not overlook the fact that Father O'Sullivan, though young in years, was certainly mature in his judgment and his priestly attitude during prophets period always with us. Gassipers and fault finders and false prophets are always with us. Be it said to Father O'Sullivan's credit that he has been most prudent and judicious in dealing with all of them. He was noble in presenting the problem and in answering the comments which were bound to come. I cannot commend him too highly as I permit him to take leave of us, as you direct in your letter.
