On behalf of the Committee of the Collegians' Hurling Club, we, believing that you take an interest in our Club, presume to solicit your support towards our Training Fund As you are aware the Club was formed a few years ago to bring together the hurlers of the various Cork Colleges in order to foster among them a spirit of Camaraderie, and to give their athletic prowess greater scope in the Cork County Championships. In both these respects our anticipations have been amply justified. We are of opinion that for the past few years we had material at our disposal capable of winning the Championship, but unfortunately some of our most important matches took place during the Summer holidays when our team was so scattered that the members had little or no encouragement or opportunity to fit themselves for an important match. This year our team is to play the Final of the County Championship on August 8th, and we have to rely on the contributions of our friends to get the playing members together to train for that important event, otherwise we fear our cherished hopes may be again deferred. We are confident, however, our endeavour to keep the name of the Collegians prominent in the athletic world will meet with the approval of all Students—past and present—of the Cork Colleges, and of their numerous friends, and that they will not be slow in testifying this approval by their contributions.
