Geoffri I would ask your earnest attention to the accompanying resolution recently paped at a General meeting - I would remark that the rate of subscription named therein is to be regarded rather as a guide to Landowners than as a limit to subscriptions and is obviously not applicable to subscribers whose incomes are wholly or in part derived from services other than from land. I may mention that a member of the Association has offered to contribute £1000 to our funds on the condition that a similar sum is contributed by 31 other individuals. In enclosed short statement of sense of the work done will give you an idea of that has been effected by the Executor of the Association. There is every reason to believe that it will be necessary largely to increase our exertions. This will involve a very large expenditure, that connected with the saving of crops making is absolutely necessary that considerable funds should at once be placed at the disposal of the Committee. The Committee are most airsome if funds should be forthcoming to take up cases in the Land Courts where the weak will certainly be mose first attacked. The Committee would suggest that you should use your influence with incumbences to apprish our Association whose success will ensure them the pruncipal payment of their charges Yours faithfully Constant Chiefman of the Property Defence Association Property Defence Association. "That we the undersigned promise to pay one half per cent. per annum on the Government valuation of our Property, for the next three years, to the Property Defence Association, or to one of the organizations now working for the preservation and defence of property in Ireland." _____ Address. _____ Date.
