Copy. 25 Jan 1907 The Hermitage Dear Lord Abbot, 202-0408/356 Cabragh Thurles Enclosed is the draft memorandum, in which I have made some modifications & corrections in accordance with your suggestions. The periograph referring to hopes of financial aid for our project, I have eliminated. I purpose submitting the corrected memorandum, [when I receive a copy of it], to the Strichbishop here, "as in duty bound" & also to sympathisers, prospective donors. The expressed hope of getting such a sum as £5,000 would, I am of opinion, restrain rather than promote modest offerings, either as pulpty or not needed. I nevertheless maintain my hopes of considerable assistance, in the course of time, both from the U.S.A. and from home sources, should Almighty God & you lead the project into existence. I am led to believe that funds would be forthcoming for the development of schools & monastery were a beginning made. At the moment I cannot say more. I have already received from a friend, a distinguished publicist, a large and valuable library consisting of general literature and rare works on Irish history, ancient Irish art, archeology, etc. I am having this collection placed on the shelves of the library at Glenstal. On hearing from you I shall make the necessary preparations for the two months - prospectors - to whom you referred.
