2023-10-04 772 Copy Peter J. McMahon Solicitor 37 Hill Street Newry (I 13 July 1938 The Venerable Dom Bede Lebbe Prior Glenstal Priory Murroe Co. Limerick Dear Revd. Father, re: Catherine Mulholland De I received your letter of the 11th inst and note your Councel has instructed you to accept the bequest of £100 on the conditions stated in my letter. Under the terms of the deceased's will she left a sum of £100 in Free State Loan and 50 ordinary Shares in J & P. Coats Ltd. so that the income might be applied for Masses as directed by her will. On her death her husband, who is the acting Executor of the Will, claimed the £100 invested in the Free State Loan as his sole property, and have no doubt but his claim is in order. He will however have to satisfy the Charity Commissioners in Dublin that his claim to this fund is perfectly established to their entire satisfaction, and should he fail to do this, this amount would be available and form part of the fund which you have intimated you are entrusted to accept. Presently, however, the only thing available to meet the deceased's intentions under the bequests are 50 Ordinary shares in J. & P. Coats Ltd. These are against; valued approximately at the present £100 and the dividend payable thereout at present would amount to about £5 annually.
