Extract from the CONFERENCE BOOK of the diocese of Cashel and Emly. 2022-04-06-3264 Easter Conference. 19 April 1927 "His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Harty, had a letter from Mgr J.J. Ryan from Maredsous to say that the Benedictines are taking over Glenstal by a unanimous vote of the community. The Archbishop explained that he made it clear to the Benedictines that the Archdiocese incurred no responsibility for Glenstal, and that in allowing them to open a school that they must not interfere with existing schools but that their school must be a high class one like Downside. He allowed them to open a school of art and craft-work, like the one they already have at Liège."
