C A P U E N E W S L E T E R Published Quarterly by VICE-PROVINCE OF CALIFORNIA - OREGON Volume 1, No. 1 San Francisco, California March, 1973 WE HAVE ARRIVED! LATE BUT NONETHELESS ENTHUSIASTIC! LIKE AN AGED WHISKEY OR GOOD WINE, WE HOPE TARDINESS WILL GIVE PROMISE OF GREAT QUALITY! One of the decisions passed at our Chapter stated: "That a Vice-Provincial bulletin be established to provide a more effective means of communication, and that it be published four times a year." (MINUTES, p. 53, n. 4) We now begin to put into practice this decision of the Chapter. The response from around the Vice-Province has been most encouraging. Glance through the following pages. The many contributors speak for themselves. So encouraged we that we do intend to publish four times a year. A second issue will be in your hands in early June; a third issue at the end of the summer months; and the fourth issue around the Christmas Season. The success of this Vice-Provincial endeavor can, of course, only be gauged by the number of contributors. It is our sincere hope that in the months to come all of the brethren will continue to support this means of bringing the activities of the entire Vice-Province into the hands of all of us. For only if we are united in our sharing of experiences can we cut away at the miles that separate us from each other. Our special thanks for financing the printing job on this first issue are due to Fr. Bertram and the Community of Our Lady of Angels. We do hope to capture your whole hearted interest and support in this first issue by an attractive format. Any suggestions may have on the composition and future format will be greatly appreciated. Finally, paraphrasing the words of J. F. K., all of the ideas expressed above may not be accomplished in this first issue, nor even in the issues to come, but at least let us now begin to make our own Bulletin a truly worthwhile endeavor.
