Arch., Architect & Civil Engineer, 65, O'Connell St., LIMERICK. Re: Glenstal Church. Dear Mr. Thompson, I have now completed the approximate estimates for the above. The cost of providing for foundations, rising walls up to damp proof course level, ground floor slab (exclusive of screeding and finish), and the Boiler house would be approximately 26,000. This does not provide for any stonework, nor for any heating equipment to the boiler house. The cost of building the superstructure of the church, bell tower, and porch, to the extent shown on your drawings, would be approximately 271,000. 0. 0. This would provide for ; - concrete block cavity walls as shown; a cement screed finish to floors; roof construction and finish as shown; doors and windows; provision of suitable heating and electrical equipment as detailed by Messrs. Varming & Partners; but excludes any stone or plaster finishes to walls, with the exception of stone window reveals and sills. You will appreciate that the estimate for the carcassing of the superstructure is rather approximate at this stage, as there are so many important points regarding details of construction and finishes which are still merely an assumption, but which nevertheless are a vital factor in relation to any true indication of cost.
