PERCENTAGE FEES Value of works less than £25,000, fees 10% on the first £1,000, 6% on the rest. Value of works exceeding £25,000, fees 6% of the total amount. Alterations of, or additions to existing works higher percentage fee after special arrangement. For ventilating and airconditioning services also, a higher percentage fee to be agreed upon. These fees cover the works usually carried out by Consulting Engineers and include report, estimate and preliminary design, preparation of tender drawings and specification, obtaining tenders, supervision of the works by occasional visits to the site, issue of certificates, checking account and generally advising the Client and The Architect on the problems concerning the works for which we are responsible. One-third of the total fees are due on completion of report, estimate and preliminary design. A further one-third of the total fees are due on completion of the tender drawings and specification. The remaining one-third of these fees are due in relation to value of certificates issued. The charge for the preparation of a Bill of Quantities would be in addition to the above percentage fee and would be calculated at the rate of 2½% on the first £10,000 and 2% on the rest of the cost. Fees are due when the Bill is delivered to the Client or the Architect.

FEES NOT ON PERCENTAGE BASIS: Fees for professional services on a time basis would be £1.1.0. per hour or part of hour, and remuneration on this basis would take place for consultation, etc., and for design of works valued less than £100. In the case of alterations being required to design or drawings already completed an additional fee will be charged after special arrangement. In the event of a decision being made not to proceed with the work, before final drawings and specification have been completed, the Consulting Engineer shall be paid within one month after such decision, full out-of-pocket expenses and establishment charges. Exclusive of above fees, charges are made for surveying and tracing of existing plants (£3.0.0.) per day for a technical assistant. Travelling and hotel expenses, prints of drawings and other out-of-pocket expenses charge is extra. Likewise remuneration of a Resident Engineer or a Clerk of Works etc., is not included in the above fees. If desired, a written agreement including the terms of remuneration could be entered into by the Client and the Consulting Engineer.
