This is a book of slow and meditative reading - a life it is, and rythm of life cannot be hurried; "modern" people think by crowding a lot of odds in their life to forget the time, or to make it shorter at their convenience...poor fools; they burn their lives away, and don't get the warmth of it ! As far as I can guess from a few pages, A.Cecil is a exalted idealist, and one wonders how he can unite together in himself that poetical life in an other world with a keen sense of History. His idyl with his "Allegra" reminds of Peter Pan flying away to the "never, never land". He is evidently under the spell of the Italian "quattorcento" - is it not strange how cultured English people are attrac- ... I hope you will ... ..
